Prayer really works, try it and see!

I’ve found this true so many number of times in my life and today was yet another example of how God answers prayers.

Zoe doesn’t go more than 1-2 hours without waking up hungry with sometimes at night being the exception, then it may extend to 2 1/2 – 3 hours.  Well she had been sleeping for at least 1 1/2 hours before leaving out the door, so she was due for a bottle at any time.
I was in a scurry trying to gather everything so I could take her to her appointment at Children’s Hospital and on time.  Her diaper bag was packed, had a bottle on standby, and even a spare burp cloth and a fresh diaper on her, we were set and ready!

Well, when I got there, I realized that somehow I managed to run off and forget her diaper bag that had everything in it!  I knew this was sure to become a disaster at any time resulting in her screaming crying because she had woken up and realized it had been way too long since she last ate.  (Trust me, she does this at home regularly).

Half of me, ok, all of me wanted to just get back in the van and go home and reschedule and avoid the disaster.  But instead I decided to ask God for His help and that He help me through this since I was so ill prepared and needed it if we were going to make it through this.
Well, we sat in the waiting room 40 minutes and Zoe continued sleeping peacefully despite the loud closing doors and chaos of a child’s waiting room.

We were called in for the exam and I thought “if it’s going to happen, it’ll happen here”.  I had to strip her down to her diaper and then the lady had to put the gel on her back and examine her spine with the ultrasound and Zoe did a lot of squirming.  But sure enough, we finished the exam and I got her re-dressed, and we made it all the way back home and not once did she cry, not even for a second.

It is God’s hand in even the smallest of matters such as this that gives me my faith and strength, because as busy as He is, He still takes the time to answer even the small prayers when we ask.  I’m truly grateful I serve a God that loves us this much and helps us in even the most trivial of situations.
